Vanessa Thill
Balsam
Artist and writer Vanessa Thill's first volume of poetry, accompanied by illustrations from Isabelle Brourman. Thill's work explores somatic expressions of shelter and transcendence and here, her words buoy us through a world riddled with craving and decay, yet full of humanity. Shorter poems revel in the mediums of Thill's art practice, oozing and seeping dying summer insects, white glue losing its whiteness, beachly breezes, and mischief. These unfurl to longer pieces that are robust in their examination of human growth on a micro and macro scale.
